The course provides a detailed exposure to the context, issues, and methods used to analyze the increasingly complex problems in the defense environment and support decision-making. It exposes the types of analysis and allows the practical experience of tools and methods, ranging from judgemental comments through mathematical techniques to models and simulations. The course includes judgemental elicitation and analysis techniques, mathematical analysis methods (including optimization), war gaming and combat modeling, logistics, and simulation methods. The methods' use and utility are explored through practical exercises and studies.
On successful completion of the course, you will:
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the methods, techniques, and tools for modeling defense problems and systems.
Critically assess a range of approaches and methods to help support defense analysis and decision-making.
A first or second-class honors degree or equivalent in science, engineering, or mathematics. Alternatively, a lesser qualification together with appropriate work experience may be acceptable.
20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.
IELTS 6.5 overall and 5.5 in all skill components.
