BA (Hons) Film, Radio and Television with Foundation Year

Course Overview

A foundation year helps you develop the study skills and self-confidence needed for higher education when you don’t reach the entry requirements for your subject.

Learn about and work in a variety of media, using industry-standard equipment and facilities. You’ll soon be ready for a career in the creative industries spanning film, TV, audio, radio, and animation.

You’ll have access to:

• A variety of different digital film cameras including the Arri Alexa Mini LF and Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro.

• A wide range of location lighting and grip equipment.

• Post-production facilities include AVID Media Composer and the full Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.

• A professional TV gallery and Studio.

• Four dedicated radio studios with Abobe Audition and Myriad.

• A wide range of portable recording equipment including Marantz, Zooms, and Rodes for podcasts, documentaries, features, etc.

• You can also get involved in CSR, and Canterbury Student Radio.

Visiting industry professionals and former students will offer you guidance and advice through workshops and dedicated masterclasses.

General Eligibility

A Levels: DDE

BTEC: MPP

Access: Pass 45 Credits

International Baccalaureate: TBC

Combinations: A combination of qualifications totaling 64 UCAS points minimum

Applicants without formal level 3 qualifications will also be considered.

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.

Language Requirement

• IELTS 6.5 or equivalency – with no less than 5.5 in any element.
