Course Overview
The Master’s in Food Development builds strong knowledge in food science and product innovation. The programme connects classroom learning with laboratory work, giving students hands-on experience in food analysis and product testing. Research activity at the University of Turku supports teaching, allowing students to learn methods used in food quality control and nutrition studies.
The programme covers food safety, product design, sensory evaluation, and industrial food production methods. Students take part in group projects and laboratory assignments that reflect real food industry tasks. The learning environment includes students from different countries, which adds different perspectives to discussions and project work.
Graduates move into roles in food manufacturing companies, research centres, quality control units, and regulatory organisations. Some continue to doctoral studies for research careers in food science and nutrition fields.
