Course Overview
The MSc Food and Nutrition Sciences has been developed to meet the needs of the modern food and nutrition sector. The programme combines scientific theory with practical application, giving students experience in food analysis, nutrition assessment, product development, sensory evaluation, sustainability, and food quality management. Students gain access to specialist facilities that mirror professional industry environments, helping them build practical skills alongside academic knowledge.
The course supports career development through research projects, industry-focused learning activities, and opportunities to work on real food and nutrition challenges. Graduates leave with strong analytical, laboratory, communication, and problem-solving skills that are useful across food manufacturing, public health, nutrition services, regulatory agencies, and research organisations.
A major strength of the programme is its focus on current industry practices, food innovation, consumer needs, and sustainability. Students learn from academic staff with subject expertise and gain experience using specialist software and laboratory equipment commonly used in the food industry. These experiences help prepare graduates for employment in both national and international food and nutrition sectors.
