Course Overview

Learn how to help people lead healthy, active lifestyles with UWSs BSc (Hons) Sports Development program. The program teaches the development of sport and development through sport by exploring its contributions to health, communities, economies, and societies on global and local scales. The program is unique in Scotland and was developed in consultation with partners from national sport organizations and governing bodies, NHS and the third sector, as well as senior sport development officers and expert coaches. The program boasts strong links to the industry which are reflected in course design, work experience opportunities, and the employment opportunities available to UWS students.

General Eligibility

Our Minimum Entry Requirements are applicable to those applicants who have not had an equal opportunity to demonstrate their academic ability at school or college and are known as ‘widening access’ applicants. We also sometimes refer to this type of applicant as receiving a ‘contextual’ offer. We may be able to provide you with a contextual offer if you fall into one of the categories below:

  • You have been in care (care-experienced/care-leaver)

  • You are a young carer

  • government-recognizedecognised asylum or refugee status

  • You are estranged from your family or guardians

  • You live in a SIMD decile 1-4 (SIMD20/40)* Scottish postcode area
