Course Overview

Our BA in Education will build on current practice and research in the Department, providing you with in-depth knowledge and understanding of education drawing on the disciplines of sociology, philosophy, psychology, political science, and history, to enable you to develop knowledge and skills in the academic study of education. The use of outside speakers on the course, who are experts in the field and practitioners in a variety of educational disciplines, helps to demonstrate education studies in a real-world context.

The option to take a pathway focusing on Inclusion, Diversity, and SEND enables you to develop an understanding of a growing area of interest in the field of education.

Embedded at the heart of the course is the emphasis on employability skills, ensuring that you will be equipped to enter a diverse range of careers, both directly from the course as a graduate professional and with further study at the postgraduate level.

Our commitment goes beyond your undergraduate studies. Subject to achieving a 2:1 in your undergraduate degree, you will benefit from a guaranteed interview on one of our postgraduate teacher training courses and a range of other courses that will allow you to specialize in areas such as special educational needs, leadership, and creativity, as well as pursuing research interests.
