BFA Art Studio

The BFA Art Studio program at Western Washington University provides students with a comprehensive education in the visual arts, including painting, drawing, sculpture, and graphic design. Students will learn to think creatively, develop their technical skills, and explore a wide range of artistic styles and mediums. The program is designed to prepare students for careers in the visual arts, as well as for further study at the graduate level.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is the professional undergraduate art degree.

It is a selective expanded program focused on a year-long development of a professional body of work, culminating in a Western Gallery exhibition and catalog.

Academic Requirements for freshman students:

The admission requirements for undergraduate courses are given as follows:

• Completed application form

• Academic Transcripts(certified english translations if necessary)

• Relevant High school degree/Grade Report/Certificates

• SAT or ACT Scores (Optional)

• A cumulative GPA of 2.0

• Personal Statement or essay

• One letter of recommendation

• List of extracurricular activities(if any)

• Portfolio

Grade Requirements

Admission to the BFA is based primarily on the strength of the portfolio. A 3.0 minimum GPA within the Art major and overall cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required.
