The MA in Film and Media Production offers a unique blend of practical production skills, professional knowledge, and academic study as well as opportunities for you to become a researcher in your own right. We have designed the course to be taught through a combination of intensive workshop sessions, online interactive and self-directed teaching, as well as group and individual tutorials. The program provides intensive instruction in sound recording and design, cinematography and camerawork, lighting, non-linear editing, scriptwriting, producing, and directing. The MA in Film & Media Production is practically based but it should not be seen only as vocational preparation. It includes an important theoretical component that is related to the practical side of the program; theoretical issues are explored through both practices and in a dedicated theory module.
Many graduates enter the media industries, frequently as trainees who will complete their technical training 'in-house.' The MA in Film Production is also well suited to applicants who want to work as independent filmmakers or to go on to teach the subject.
Candidates who are already in the workplace will benefit from using their new-found qualifications and confidence to progress their careers with their current employer or to use it to secure promotions or new employment elsewhere. They can also use the qualification as a way to improve what they are undertaking within their current role.
Undergraduate degree at 2:2 or above, or alternative qualifications and substantial relevant experience may be considered.
20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.
