LL.B. Law with Foundation Year

... United Kingdom
... Canterbury Christ Church University-CCCU

Course Overview

Your Law degree will enable you to progress to the vocational stage of lawyer’s training, to qualify as either a solicitor or barrister. This original and innovative course has been designed in consultation with senior managers to give you both a theoretical and practical experience.

We are one of only a few universities across the country which offers a dual qualification: an LLB and Membership of the National Association of Licensed Paralegals (provided you choose specific module options), which means you graduate with a GradNALP in addition to your LLB enjoying Paralegal status.

As part of your degree, you will have the option to get involved with practical justice including opportunities to shadow a local judge and experience live mediations from our in-house Medication Clinic. Through our strong links with the local community, Citizens Advice, and local courts, you will have the opportunity to act as a Community Legal Companion for unrepresented parties at court. This is an excellent opportunity for you to gain hands-on work experience in a legal setting.

In addition to all our LLB degrees being Qualifying Law Degrees, we have designed our degrees in consultation with external stakeholders, such as local law practitioners as well as a range of local organizations. This ensures we help you to develop the skills which are highly valued by employers, with examples including written and verbal communication, initiative, time management, flexibility, and teamwork. Many graduates use these skills to become a barrister or solicitors, but others establish careers in education, public services, HRM, management, paralegals, chartered secretaries, or in financial services. This qualification can also be used to progress on to postgraduate studies in law, such as an LLM, or in related areas such as management, marketing, and accountancy.

Applicants should normally have 32 UCAS Tariff points. We will also welcome applications from students with few or no formal Level 3 qualifications who wish to return to education and applicants may be asked to attend an interview.
