BSc Child Nursing

This course prepares students to become skilled and compassionate child nurses. You will learn how to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for children from birth to 18 years old. The course covers a wide range of topics including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and psychology as they relate to pediatric nursing. Students will also gain experience in working with children and their families in a variety of healthcare settings.

The course includes placements in these settings, giving students hands-on experience in caring for children. Graduates of this course are eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a child nurse.

As a children's nurse you'll care for children and their families, placing their wellbeing at the centre of everything you do. On our Child Nursing course, you'll spend 50% of your time at university and 50% of your time in placements across a variety of settings, including hospitals, schools and in the community. You'll learn how to care for infants, children, young people and their families in a holistic manner. On successful completion of all components, you'll be eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

GCSE English language and mathematics grades A-C / 4-9 or equivalent. Functional Skills Level 2 accepted.
