Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor) - BSc (Hons) / PgDip

This course prepares students to become specialist community public health nurses, also known as health visitors. Health visitors play a crucial role in promoting and protecting the public's health, particularly in communities with high infant mortality rates or other health disparities. Students will learn how to assess and address the physical, emotional, and social needs of families and communities, while also advocating for policies that promote population health. The course is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in public health nursing theory and practice, as well as the skills and knowledge necessary to work effectively in this field.

Additional Information

The course includes a placement component where students will gain hands-on experience working with vulnerable populations. Students will also have the opportunity to specialize in areas such as mental health, chronic disease management, or global health. Graduates of the program are eligible to sit for the Health Visitor registration examination and join the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register.
