Course Overview
The programme builds strong knowledge in biochemical science with a focus on molecular processes and laboratory training. Students study enzyme activity, protein structure, and cellular reactions supported by practical lab work.
Research projects form a key part of the programme. Topics include disease pathways, drug action, metabolic disorders, and protein analysis. Students gain experience in experimental design, lab techniques, and scientific reporting.
Graduates move into roles in pharmaceutical research, clinical laboratories, biotechnology firms, and academic institutions. Some continue into doctoral research. The course structure supports both technical laboratory ability and research-based scientific work.
General Eligibility
A bachelor’s degree in biochemistry or a related life science field is required. Applicants must submit academic transcripts, recommendation letters, and a short statement of purpose. Some applicants may need prior laboratory experience. Scholarships may be available through university merit awards and external funding schemes. Applications are submitted through the official University of Malta portal with supporting documents uploaded before the deadline.
Part Time Work Details
Up to 20 hours per week during study period, full-time allowed during academic breaks (for eligible students)
