Course Overview
The Statistics programme builds skills in data handling, probability, and statistical reasoning. Students learn how to interpret data and build models used in research and decision-making across many fields.
The course starts with core mathematics and basic statistical methods. Later studies include advanced modelling, regression methods, and computational statistics. Programming tools are part of the training, giving experience in working with real datasets.
Graduates move into master’s programmes or work in areas such as data analysis, insurance, health research, finance, and government statistics. The programme has developed through close links with research units at the University of Helsinki. Course content is updated based on current statistical methods and applications used in research work.
