Course Overview

You can specialize in either Film Practice or Film Studies. Our Film Practice Ph.D. provides you with a unique opportunity to develop your film as a practice-led research project. Alternatively, you can undertake a Film Studies, MPhil, or Ph.D. studying British, Algerian, Chinese, French, or Latin American cinema. Our graduates are in demand, and they continue to be among the most employable in the country. By providing internships and work experience placements wherever possible, we ensure you have the relevant skills to excel in your chosen career. Employers play an active role in our degrees by delivering technical lectures or taking a role in professional skills modules. Many Ph.D. programs include training and work experience in commercial laboratories. Selected courses are developed and accredited by professional organizations and many courses include project-based assignments and/or case study analysis.

General Eligibility

A 2:1 honors degree and preferably a merit master's degree, or an international equivalent, in a related subject, such as: MLitt (if applying for Film Studies, MPhil, and Ph.D.) film studies English cultural studies modern languages history sociology art psychology
