The MEnvSci Environmental Science program at Bangor University provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the environmental sciences, including the physical, chemical, and biological processes that govern our planet. The program covers topics such as climate change, conservation biology, ecology, environmental policy, and sustainability, among others. Students will gain hands-on experience through fieldwork and laboratory work, as well as develop skills in data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving. The program is designed to prepare students for careers in environmental science, conservation, and sustainability, as well as for further study at the graduate level.
The MEnvSci Environmental Science program is accredited by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), which means that students will receive a high-quality education that meets industry standards. The program is also supported by a range of research centers and institutes, including the Bangor University Environmental Research Group and the North Wales Wildlife Trust. Additionally, the university offers a range of scholarships and bursaries to help support students in their studies.
Bangor University is an ideal location for studying environmental science, as it is surrounded by beautiful Welsh countryside and is located near several protected areas, including Snowdonia National Park. The 20 hours is total hours. It is not per job. If you hold multiple part-time jobs then the total hours of all the work you are doing added together.
During this time, you will come to understand the foundations of Environmental Science, and deepen your understanding of the topic. A range of interesting and exciting modules will bring alive this fantastic topic for you! You will see and hear first-hand about world-leading research projects being conducted at our school as we integrate research into our teaching.
As well as the compulsory modules, there is a very wide range of optional modules for you to choose, ensuring the degree is personal to you. These will enhance your skill-set and knowledge as an aspiring Environmental Scientist. The options include a field course to Tenerife, where we study the many different environmental pressures facing the island, and how they can be mitigated.
In your final year, you will complete a Masters-level independent research project on a topic of your choice, giving you the chance to demonstrate your potential in delivering a quality piece of work, to a high level. You will undertake a relevant work placement of at least 4 weeks at a location of your choice, anywhere in the world. You will also undertake modules which focus on the importance of environmental sustainability for modern business and Strategic Environmental Management, which will give you professionally recognised skills.

If you do not meet the English Language requirements to enter the International Incorporated Bachelors or the International Incorporated Masters, BUIC offers you a range of Pre-sessional English Programmes which you can take before you start these courses.
If you have an IELTS of 5.0 (with no component below 4.5), you will be offered a 6-week Pre-sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
If you have an IELTS of 4.5 (with no component below 4.0), you will be offered a 12-week Pre-Sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
