The BA (Hons) Modern Languages course at Bangor University offers students the opportunity to explore two or more modern languages, including French, Spanish, German, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, and Arabic. The foundation year provides a solid basis for students who may not have studied these subjects before, while the honours degree allows students to specialise in their chosen language(s). Students will develop their language skills through a combination of language classes, cultural events, and language-related workshops. In addition to language proficiency, students will also study literature, history, and culture related to their chosen languages, as well as developing their critical thinking and analytical skills. The course is ideal for those interested in pursuing a career in fields such as translation, interpreting, teaching, or cultural exchange.
Students will have the opportunity to study abroad through the university's partnership with the University of Rennes in France, and the University of Granada in Spain. The course is also accredited by the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) and the Language Trainers Association (LTA).

The 20 hours is total hours. It is not per job. If you hold multiple part-time jobs then the total hours of all the work you are doing added together.
On this Modern Languages (with Foundation Year) degree, you will have 3-4 hours of language classes each week in each of your chosen languages. Tuition is mainly in small groups and there are few formal lectures. Assessment involves coursework and written and oral examinations. You will also complete a dissertation as part of your degree.

If you do not meet the English Language requirements to enter the International Incorporated Bachelors or the International Incorporated Masters, BUIC offers you a range of Pre-sessional English Programmes which you can take before you start these courses.
If you have an IELTS of 5.0 (with no component below 4.5), you will be offered a 6-week Pre-sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
If you have an IELTS of 4.5 (with no component below 4.0), you will be offered a 12-week Pre-Sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
