Working with state-of-the-art equipment in our well-equipped labs, you'll develop a strong foundation in electrical machines and communications systems, before focusing on specialist automation and control topics, including electromagnetism, robotics, and linear control theory. You'll use industry-standard equipment, experimental hardware and train in software packages such as MATLAB. You'll complete several design projects to showcase your skills to future employers. For example, developing electrical traction machines for an electric racing car and developing photovoltaic solar power for homes in rural areas. In your fourth year, you'll complete an industrial project with a company in the UK or abroad. Working on a real engineering project set by your host business, this will allow you to gain vital experience, enhance your CV and develop invaluable contacts within the industry.
