Course Overview

With this course, you graduate as a professional, able to work collaboratively alongside members of the NHS and with other clinical exercise and musculoskeletal therapists operating beyond the NHS. It teaches you the core skills you need to assess and diagnose patients’ problems – whether caused by accident, illness or ageing - then to formulate and implement treatment plans involving exercise, physical activity and therapy.

Teaching is informed by research and delivered through lectures, seminars, tutorials and practical classes. You take part in debates, student-led presentations and workshops alongside periods on clinical practice placements.

The course is accredited by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP) and its comprehensive curriculum is approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

General Eligibility

We will consider you as an individual and take into account all elements of your application, not just your qualifications. We are looking for breadth and depth in your current studies and enthusiasm for the subject you wish to study.

Five GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C if taken before 2016) or above, including English language or literature and mathematics (or equivalent), plus one of the following

• 120 UCAS Tariff points from:
  -3 GCE/VCE A Levels to include at least one science subject (preferably Biology/Human Biology, but other acceptable qualifications are Chemistry, Physics,PE or Psychology) OR BTEC level 3 QCF qualifications, and other qualifications in the UCAS tariff
  - Access to HE Diploma for a QAA recognised Access to HE course in health studies, health science, nursing or another science-based course achieving grades: 15 credits at Level 2 and 45 at level 3 of which at least 12 credits should be graded at distinction level and at least 12 credits at merit, equating to the aforementioned credits
  -Diploma in Higher Education or BSc degree
  -Equivalent qualifications such as Irish Leaving Certificate, Scottish Advanced Highers or International Baccalaureate

• International English Test Score (IELTS) Grade 7 overall and scores no lower than 6.5 in the sub sections of the test.
  
  It is strongly recommended that prospective students have experience or exposure of their chosen profession prior to application. Whilst this is not essential, a thorough and clear demonstration of your understanding of the role is, of which may only be possible through lived experience.

Part Time Work Details

The 20 hours is total hours. It is not per job. If you hold multiple part-time jobs then the total hours of all the work you are doing added together.

  The University accepts the following qualification as satisfying the English Language requirements for entry to a Bachelor or Master's degree.

  UKVI Academic IELTS overall score of 6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each element
