The Five Year Doctor of Medicine program (MD5) is suitable for students who have completed their High School education with a strong performance in science subjects. In this program, you will study for two years in Newcastle. Your first year of study with a focus on pre-clinical studies followed by the second year of basic sciences. After two years you will progress to the second year of basic sciences training at the SGU True Blue campus in Grenada. Upon completion of the second year of basic sciences students who satisfy the necessary requirements will be granted a Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMedSci) award from Northumbria University. You will then have the option of completing up to two years of clinical rotations in the USA or the UK subject to local visa policies and restrictions in each location. The Doctor of Medicine (MD) award will be granted upon successful completion of the program. The SGU/NU International Medical Pathway has been designed to develop knowledge, clinical skills, and research interests while giving you the opportunity to experience a multitude of healthcare systems and enable you to practice medicine across all specialties with a global perspective. The programs offered in Newcastle are equivalent to those delivered in Grenada but give students the opportunity to study in and experience a different healthcare environment. As an established world leader in medical education for more than forty years, St. Georges University has contributed over 17,000 physicians to the global physician workforce with students, graduates, and faculty from over 140 countries.
