Physics attempts to explain how everything in the universe works: from particles smaller than an atom to the universe's evolution, using simple terms and applying mathematics. If you are interested in the limits of space, the beginning of time, and everything in between, this is your subject.
Physics is more than a subject - it trains your brain to think beyond boundaries.
Why should you study Physics? If you are concerned about what you can do with Physics, then you can stop worrying now. In the best-case scenario, you will solve the mysteries of the universe and change your understanding of the world around us. Maybe you will do something more applied, such as a form of Engineering, Optometry or Radiography, or perhaps you will work in management consulting or investment banking and become incredibly rich.
Physics is the natural partner of Maths A Level, with the two subjects supporting and consolidating similar topics. At Longbridge (Bournville College) campus, we are fortunate to offer Computer Science A Level, an excellent addition to a Physicist.
You will need a minimum of 5 GCSEs in grades 4-9, including grade 6 in either Double Award Science or GCSE physics. You must also have a 6 or above in Maths and a 4 or above in English (on the higher papers).
Enrolment is subject to satisfactory completion of an induction period. You may wish to consider an alternative, such as the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science, which is a mixture of coursework and exams.
20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.
IELTS 5.5; Reading and writing must be at 5.5
