For students who wish to work in the NHS as a professional Biomedical Scientist, there is the opportunity to transfer to BSc (Hons) Applied Biomedical Science at the end of the second year and undertake a yearlong placement in an accredited NHS laboratory. The transfer is competitive and not guaranteed with applicants undergoing a behaviors-based interview, Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, and occupational health (OH) assessment. Successful completion of the placement enables BSc (Hons) Applied Biomedical Science graduates to apply to the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) for registration as a Biomedical Scientist and work within the NHS.
Access Courses: Pass a named Access to HE Diploma (e.g., science, combined science, and medicine based) with at least 45 credits at level 3, 30 of which must be at Distinction level, including 15 credits in Biology and 15 credits in second relevant science such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and psychology. The remaining 15 Level 3 credits must be Merit or above. Must have GCSE English and mathematics at grade C/4 or above.
Overall average score of at least 6.0, with a score of at least 6.0 in all elements.
