Course Overview
The Computer Engineering degree combines computer science, electronics and engineering. Students receive classroom instruction and practical learning in areas such as programming, digital design, computer systems, microprocessors and computer architecture. The course includes a two-semester engineering design sequence, giving students experience with engineering projects and design work.
The program has been available as a complete four-year degree at SLU-Madrid since Fall 2024. It is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. Students can take part in internships, cooperative education and undergraduate research. Career Services helps students look for internship opportunities with local and international companies.
Graduates can pursue roles in computer engineering, embedded systems, hardware and software development, networking, technology consulting and related areas. The degree can support further study in engineering, business, law, medicine or other graduate programs.
General Eligibility
Applicants for the Computer Engineering degree must meet the general undergraduate admission requirements and the School of Science and Engineering requirements.
Freshman applicants:
- Graduation from an accredited high school or an acceptable GED/HiSET qualification.
- Minimum 3.00 cumulative high school GPA for engineering applicants.
- Strong preparation in mathematics, including algebra, geometry and precalculus.
- English-language proficiency for applicants who need to demonstrate it.
Transfer applicants:
- Graduation from an accredited high school or acceptable GED/HiSET qualification.
- Minimum 2.70 college GPA.
- Students with 24 or more semester credits must submit transcripts from all colleges attended.
Part Time Work Details
International students must follow Spanish student immigration and work rules. Work must remain compatible with study requirements.
Language Requirement
International applicants who have not completed an approved English-medium education pathway must provide proof of English proficiency.
