The MSc in Infectious Diseases provides advanced research skills training within the context of diseases that affect significant proportions of the UK and global populations. With the UK being a world leader in infectious diseases research and pharmaceutical development, and Kent having a strong research focus in this area, there are significant opportunities for career progression for graduates of this programme in academia (PhD) and industry.
Minimum 2:2 honours degree in a biosciences-related subject.
20 Hours of Work permit weekly for international students.
Compulsory modules currently include:
Practical Molecular Biology and Genome Editing
Research Skills in Infectious Diseases
Research, Ethics and Impact
Biology of Global Pathogens
Outbreaks, Epidemics and Pandemics
Infection and Antimicrobial Resistance
Pathogen Diagnosis, Therapeutics and Vaccines
Optional modules may include:
Science Communication and Public Engagement
Frontiers in Virology
Pathogens and Pathogenicity
Bioinformatics and Genomics
IELTS (including IELTS Indicator) 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.0 in R&W; 5.5 in S&L)
TOEFL iBT 90 overall (with a minimum of 22 in R; 21 in W; 17 in L; 20 in S)
