Course Overview

The sociology program, which also offers a minor in anthropology, offers an integrated series of courses designed to promote awareness and understanding of 21st-century social problems, including the enduring presence of social inequality. Thoughtful and responsible citizenship is fostered by guiding you to an understanding of the relationship between personal experiences and larger social forces. The Sociology Department encourages flexibility in course scheduling, with a variety of paths available to successful completion of the major. You will receive careful advice from the faculty in order to ensure course selection, off-campus study, internships, and independent study projects meet your needs and interests. A degree in sociology gives a strong background for a variety of careers after graduation.
