Course Overview

Develop advanced research capabilities through coursework in this hands-on degree that includes completing a scholarly research project under the supervision of our experienced academics. Apply knowledge to a range of science, health and human services research and practices, supporting your progress into professional work of further learning. In this program you will:

  • Undertake a research project of your choice on cutting-edge scientific issues

  • Develop scientific knowledge and learn about research methodologies and methods

  • Write a thesis or research project report with scientific rigor following peer-review

  • Learn from experienced academics and industry professionals

General Eligibility

  • Students must have completed a Bachelor of Science (AQF Level 7) from a recognised higher education institution or equivalent.

  • A high level of achievement in the intended area of study must be demonstrated, and a grade point average of 5 or higher achieved across second and third year level courses that have been undertaken.

These are minimum requirements and do not guarantee entry. Importantly, enrolment is contingent upon the School's capacity to provide appropriate supervision in the intended field of research.

Entry requirements

For entry into most USC undergraduate degree programs, you need to have completed a minimum level of education similar to successful completion of Australian Year 12 with good grades.

Further studies, for example, a semester or more at college or university, can also be considered for entry and may give you credit transfer towards a degree.

Some examples of upper secondary qualifications and a guide to the minimum grades that USC will consider are listed here. These are minimum requirements and do not guarantee entry. Some programs may require higher grades. Alternative qualifications may also be considered on a case by case basis.

Part Time Work Details

20 Hours of Work permit weekly for international students.

Language Requirement

  • The IELTS score for international applicants is 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in each component).
