BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science with Foundation Year

This four-year degree programme is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the biological and biochemical processes that underpin human health and disease. The foundation year provides an opportunity for students who do not meet the direct entry requirements for the honours degree to develop their scientific knowledge and skills, before progressing to the three-year honours degree. Students will learn about the molecular basis of disease, the immune system, genetics, pharmacology, and clinical pathology, as well as how to design and conduct research experiments. Upon completion of the programme, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue a career in biomedical science or related fields.

The foundation year provides an opportunity for students who do not meet the direct entry requirements for the honours degree to develop their scientific knowledge and skills. Students will take modules in mathematics, statistics, and laboratory techniques, as well as modules that provide a broad introduction to biological sciences. In addition, students will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, including a dedicated molecular biology laboratory and a range of analytical instruments. The foundation year is designed to be flexible, with options for part-time study or a sandwich placement year. Upon successful completion of the foundation year, students will progress to the three-year honours degree programme.
