The MSc Psychology (conversion course) at Bournemouth University is designed for students who have already completed a bachelor's degree in a non-psychology field and want to pursue a career in psychology. This course provides an opportunity to gain advanced knowledge and skills in the field of psychology, including cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology, and research methods. The program is designed to meet the needs of students who want to pursue a career in psychology but may not have the traditional undergraduate degree in psychology. The course covers a range of topics, including mental health, neuropsychology, and forensic psychology, and provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through practical placements and projects.
The program is designed to be completed in 12 months (full-time) or 24 months (part-time). Students will have access to state-of-the-art facilities, including a dedicated psychology laboratory and opportunities to work with experienced academics and researchers. The course also provides students with the opportunity to gain membership in professional bodies such as the British Psychological Society.

A new psychology conversion course, accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), completing the system makes you eligible for a Graduate Basis for Chartership, the first step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist.

The standard requirements for embarking upon this course are:
A bachelor's Honours degree with 2:2 or equivalent in any subject
20 hours per week
Quantitative Research Methods in Psychology: Develops experimental and non-experimental research skills, statistical analysis, interpretation, and reporting of research findings.
Personality, Intelligence & Social Psychology: Explores the measurement of differences in personality and intelligence, identity and self-perception, attitudes, social cognition, and group processes.
Biological Psychology: Explores the neural correlates of various core brain functions and impairment associated with brain damage. Develops your analytical thinking, synthetic thinking, and ability to search for, recognize and critically evaluate information.
Qualitative Research Methods in Psychology: Develops your ability to plan, design, and conduct qualitative research and explores the history of qualitative research in psychology. Core qualitative methodologies, data collection methods, and data analysis methods will be covered.
Cognition & Language: Examines the psychology of attention, memory, and problem-solving. It also explores the effects of brain damage (e.g., aphasia and spatial neglect).
Developmental & Applied Psychology: Exploring developmental change across the lifespan and how psychological knowledge and theory are applied in real-world contexts.
Research Project: You’ll work closely with a member of staff engaging in discussions to choose an appropriate research project based around a particular topic that interests you or expanding an element from the course that you want to pursue further, perhaps linked to your future career aspirations.
IELTS (Academic) 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in writing, speaking, listening, and reading or equivalent.
