BSc Nursing (Child Health)

This course is designed for students who want to specialize in child health nursing. You will learn how to assess, monitor and manage the health of children from birth to 18 years old. The course covers topics such as paediatric pharmacology, nutrition, child development and psychosocial issues. Our teaching is informed by current research and practice in the field, ensuring that you receive the most up-to-date knowledge and skills. You will have opportunities to learn from experienced practitioners and gain practical experience through clinical placements.

Additional Information

This course is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and leads to eligibility to register as a children's nurse. Graduates can pursue careers in hospitals, health centres, schools and community settings.

• BTEC Level 3 Diploma DM in Health & Social Care, with an A Level at grade C in any subject.

• BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma M in Health & Social Care, with two A Levels at grades BB in any subject.

• International Baccalaureate Diploma 30 points.

• Access to Higher Education Diploma Obtain a minimum of 112 UCAS tariff points in the Access to HE Diploma with 45 credits at Level 3. Subjects accepted: Health Science, Health Professions, Health and Social Care, Health Studies, Medicine, Medical Science, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Science, and Science in Health Professions.

• T levels: Merit overall and grade C in A level Science subject (Health, Healthcare Science and Science)

• Five GCSEs at grade C or grade 4 or above are also required, including English Language, Maths and Science.
