Course Overview

This course focuses on developing your understanding of the theory and practice of designing and manufacturing high performance vehicles. Throughout your studies, you’ll have opportunities to develop your knowledge of vehicle handling, chassis aerodynamics and suspension mechanics, as well as automotive/motorsport computer systems and electronics, the fundamentals of internal combustion science and wider engineering issues. We’ll also support you to gain transferable skills such as project management, team working, IT and formal presentations, and help you develop the intellectual capabilities of research, problem solving, evaluation and synthesis.

General Eligibility

48 UCAS points. Please see our guide to the UCAS Tariff for examples of how to achieve these points. Any subjects are acceptable at Level 3. You should also have five GCSEs at grade C or above or grade 4 to 9 (or equivalent) including English, Mathematics and Science. You may be required to attend an interview and/or provide a portfolio of work.

Part Time Work Details

Apprentices will need to be employed by your organization for a minimum of 30 hours per week. Your organization will also need to commit to sponsoring apprentices to complete this qualification.
