Mechanical engineering deals with the design, development, installation, operation, and maintenance of anything that has moving parts. Jobs are available in a vast array of sectors. A mechanical engineering degree combines mathematics, science, technology, business, and management. This course is designed to ensure graduates can solve problems, manage workloads, communicate with a range of personnel, work in multidisciplinary teams, as well as develop decision-making and ICT capabilities
96 UCAS points. Your Level 3 subjects must include mathematics and a science subject; for instance, A-level Mathematics and Physics or BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering. Technology and engineering subjects, as well as additional mathematics subjects (such as further maths and statistics), will be accepted as ‘science’ subjects. You should also have five GCSEs at grade C or above or grade 4 to 9 (or equivalent) including English, Mathematics and Science. If you have a Foundation Degree or HND/C in Mechanical Engineering (or an appropriate engineering discipline) then you may be considered for entry to level HE5/6 of this programme, depending on the subject area of qualification and the level of maths and science that you have achieved. If you’re granted full exemption from the level HE4 modules of this course then you’ll be able to complete the course in two years. Otherwise, it will take you three years to complete the course. Before applying, please check whether you’ll be eligible for student loans for the duration of the course. Apprentices will need to be employed by your organization for a minimum of 30 hours per week. Your organization will also need to commit to sponsoring apprentices to complete this qualification.
If English isn’t your first language, you’ll also need IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band (or equivalent). We also accept a range of other English language qualifications
