Course Overview

This postgraduate level apprenticeship will develop your skills and knowledge as a research scientist. You will develop your existing knowledge, and advance your theoretical and practical knowledge, in the laboratory environment, and also when communicating your research. With our Business for the Biosciences module, you will also develop commercial and leadership skills to help you to maximize your research impact and value. The program content is tailored to your individual professional development needs, giving you a bespoke experience that will give you all the skills, knowledge, and practical experience required to succeed in your role and advance your career. This Level 7 degree apprenticeship will provide practical and theoretical training for aspiring research scientists who want to advance their careers and gain a formal degree qualification. It is intended for those already working in bioscience or biomedical roles who want to develop their skills and knowledge of bioscience research challenges and to develop commercial and leadership skills.

General Eligibility

To be considered for this program Aston University expects applicants to have a professionally recognized bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a STEM subject. You will also need to meet the government's eligibility criteria: 1. Be employed in a job in England with responsibilities aligned with the degree content. 2. Have a minimum of Grade C/4 in GCSE Mathematics and English (or equivalent) by the end of the apprenticeship 3. Have been a UK/EU/EAA resident for the past three years or more prior to starting the course 4. Have left full-time education when the apprenticeship you are applying for is due to start. 5. Be aged at least 16 years old

  • IELTS Overall 6.5, Reading, Writing Listening, Speaking 6.0 Financial requirement You’ll need to show you have enough money to support yourself - unless you’ve been in the UK with a valid visa for at least 12 months on the date of your application. How much money you need depends on where you will be studying. You’ll need either: £1,334 per month (for up to 9 months) for courses outside London £1,023 per month (for up to 9 months) for courses inside London If you’re applying for the Doctorate Extension Scheme, and you’ve been in the UK for less than 12 months, you need to prove you have a total of £2,668 for courses in London, or a total of £2,046 for courses outside London. If you’re boarding at a residential independent school, you’ll need to pay boarding fees instead. The amount you need to pay will be on your CAS. London means the City of London and the 32 London boroughs.
