Optometrists are professional clinicians responsible for multiple aspects of vision care, specializing in preserving sight by diagnosing and treating visual problems. Theyre trained to examine the eyes and detect disorders originating in the eye, brain, or other parts of the body. This course is for students who live in Singapore and want to gain a UK awarded qualification, the BSc Optometry, and Clinical Practice. They learn by a unique mix of online learning delivered by Aston Optometry School experts and still experience in-person teaching with qualified tutors in Singapore at Parkway College. To ensure you gain crucial hands-on experience, students get to complete a month-long residential at Astons modern Birmingham city center campus. They get to work on-site in a clinical setting with real patients. Here you will be supervised by, and work closely with, our staff including ophthalmologists, optometrists, and dispensing opticians to develop and expand your clinical practice skills.
Minimum of 2.0 GPA in an approved Diploma, and a GCSE in English at grade C or above. For students studying in Singapore, applicants must be Singapore or Malaysia passport holders who can meet the UK Visa requirements for the stage 3 compulsory UK residence training. In addition, students without a GCSE in English at grade C or above will require an English language qualification equivalent to an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6 in each section.
