Course Overview

Design engineers are innovators, taking concepts from initial ideas to commercial reality across a range of sectors including consumer products, automotive and industrial systems. Our BEng Design Engineering offers highly relevant modules in sought-after engineering and scientific subjects.€¯The program aims to develop creative problem solving and idea skills as well as skills vital to modern engineering environments. This includes the skills to develop innovative new product and system concepts, to visualize them using industry standard software, and design them for modern manufacturing techniques and predict their performance in service. Our course introduces a full range of core engineering science modules coupled to practical projects, ensuring a highly integrated and industry-relevant degree program. From your first year, you'll be working on major projects, often in partnership with commercial engineering companies. Youll work with colleagues, staff, and engineers from the industry to develop real solutions to life problems.

General Eligibility

BBC to include Grade B in Maths and Grade B in a physical science or technology subject (e.g. Physics, Electronics, Biology, Chemistry, Design Technology, Engineering Science or Further Maths). IB- 29 overall points with 5, 5, 4 in Higher Level subjects, including Higher Level 5 in Maths and Physics. BCC (with an EPQ or Core Maths at Grade B) CCC (contextual offers and for DTUS applicants) All applicants should offer Maths A level and a physical science or technology subject (e.g. Physics, Electronics, Biology, Chemistry, Design Technology, Engineering Science or Further Maths)

Language Requirement

  • IELTS: An overall minimum score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 for each individual IELTS skill. Financial requirement You’ll need to show you have enough money to support yourself - unless you’ve been in the UK with a valid visa for at least 12 months on the date of your application. How much money you need depends on where you will be studying. You’ll need either: £1,334 per month (for up to 9 months) for courses outside London £1,023 per month (for up to 9 months) for courses inside London If you’re applying for the Doctorate Extension Scheme, and you’ve been in the UK for less than 12 months, you need to prove you have a total of £2,668 for courses in London, or a total of £2,046 for courses outside London. If you’re boarding at a residential independent school, you’ll need to pay boarding fees instead. The amount you need to pay will be on your CAS. London means the City of London and the 32 London boroughs.
