Drawing to Sculpture – Saturday Workshop

... United Kingdom
... Arts University Bournemouth

Course Overview

Paper is an everyday material that we often overlook. By using a variety of techniques and drawing mediums such as charcoal, ink and gouache this workshop gives you the opportunity to experiment with this tactile material. Using both cartridge paper and Indian rag roll paper you will be able to explore the potential of drawing and paper and experiment with your own creative ideas. The day will start with sketching warm-ups for inspiration and then experiment with ink, charcoal and gouache. You will explore mark making, drawing techniques and paper, with some inspiration from famous artists and the environment. Paper drawings will then be turned into an organic sculpture by wetting and re-moulding it, to create something unique based upon the original drawing itself.

General Eligibility

This workshop is suitable for all levels of ability and experience, a knowledge of drawing would be beneficial but is not essential. The focus is on experimentation, imagination, creativity, and enjoyment.
