The Electrical and Energy Engineering programme at the University of Vaasa started as part of the university’s expansion into technology education. It was introduced to support Finland’s energy sector and industrial needs. Over time, the programme added more focus areas such as renewable energy systems, automation, and smart grid technology.
The teaching approach includes lectures, lab sessions, and project work with real engineering cases. Students work with equipment and simulation tools used in energy and electrical system design. The course structure follows international academic standards, which supports recognition in other countries.
Graduates move into roles in energy companies, electrical design firms, automation industries, and public infrastructure projects. Some continue studies at master’s level in Finland or abroad. The programme maintains strong links with regional industry partners, which supports applied learning and practical exposure during studies.
