Course Overview
The MSc Public Health has been developed to support the growing demand for public health professionals who can address health inequalities, disease prevention, and population wellbeing. The programme combines academic knowledge with practical public health applications, helping students understand how health policies and interventions influence communities and populations.
Students study public health from local, national, and international perspectives. Topics include health improvement, epidemiology, health protection, research methods, and public health leadership. The curriculum encourages evidence-based decision-making and practical problem-solving through research projects and applied learning activities.
UWE Bristol has built strong links with healthcare providers, public sector organisations, and community health services. These connections help students understand current public health priorities and professional practice. Graduates leave with research, analytical, communication, and project management skills that support careers in public health agencies, healthcare organisations, local government, charities, and international health organisations. The qualification can also provide a pathway to doctoral study and advanced public health research.
