BN (Hons) Learning Disability Nursing

The BN (Hons) Learning Disability Nursing program at the University of Chester is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a registered learning disability nurse. The course focuses on the assessment, care, and support of individuals with learning disabilities across the lifespan. Students will learn about the complex needs of this population and how to provide person-centered care in a variety of settings, including healthcare, education, and social care. The program is delivered by experienced nurse educators and includes a range of teaching methods, including lectures, seminars, workshops, and practical placements. Upon completion of the course, students will be eligible to register as learning disability nurses with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Additional Information

This course includes a variety of assessment methods, including written assignments, presentations, and practical placements. Students will also have the opportunity to engage in volunteer work or work experience in a healthcare setting as part of their studies. The program is designed to be flexible, with a range of start dates throughout the year to accommodate students' other commitments.

Extra Information / General Entry Requirements:

Please note that we accept a maximum of 8 points from GCE AS Levels and that the Welsh Baccalaureate (core) and General Studies A Level will be recognized in our offer. We will also consider a combination of A levels and BTECs/OCRs. FETAC Level 5 (Major Award) with all 8 subjects at Merit. Applicants must have GCSE Grade C/Grade 4 or above in English and Maths or equivalent. Please note that applicant must also have evidence of recent study within the last 5 years.
