The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET) is a part-time course suitable for you if you want a qualification that focuses on practical teaching or if you are currently teaching and want to have your experience and practice accredited. You will need to be teaching or have a teaching placement to undertake this qualification, as there is a requirement for a minimum of 30 hours of practice. The course will run from October to the end of May, with weekly sessions held during the day or evening to suit your working patterns (days and times to be confirmed at the interview and subject to numbers). Class duration will be 3½ hours, including additional tutorial sessions to support your professional development plan. You will be assessed through writing assignments, observations, and group activities. As part of the course, you will need to complete a minimum of three teaching observations. The Certificate in Education and Training enables you to meet the minimum requirement for those employed as a teacher or trainer in Further Education colleges, Adult Education centers, or Work-Based learning. You can progress onto the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training upon completing the CET course. In addition, you can move towards Qualified Teaching and Learning Status once you have completed the Level 5 qualification.
