Course Overview

This entry-level programme teaches practical, hands-on, technical skills that are used to construct full garments.

Students become familiar with industrial machinery, techniques, and terminology necessary for fashion garment construction and are introduced to fabric technology and patternmaking.

Students learn to use industry-specific construction methods to make a range of full garments including skirts, tops, and trousers. Students will learn industrial machine handling skills and garment construction techniques to start their journey into the world of commercial fashion design.

General Eligibility

Domestic Student Entry Requirements:

• Completed application form

• Minumum Age: Students must turn 17 within their first year of study at Whitecliffe

• Students must have completed 10 years of schooling and achievement of NCEA Level 2

• Workplace communication skills

International Student Entry Requirements:

• Completed application form

• Passport copy

• Minimum Age: Students must turn 18 within their first year of study at Whitecliffe

• IELTS Academic overall score of 5.0 with no band less than 5.0 or equivalent

• Students must have completed 10 years of schooling and achievement to the equivalent of NCEA Level 2

• Workplace communication skills
