This year will provide an introduction to the history of and research methods in public health as well as looking at contemporary health policy and practice. There will also be a focus on the sociology of health, as well as an introduction to both epidemiology and human biology.
You’ll build on your knowledge and skills in the second year as you learn more about the ethics and philosophy surrounding public health. You’ll discover more advanced research methods and discuss key issues in environment and occupational health. Taking a global outlook will allow you to examine global healthcare systems and health economics while broadening your scientific basis by studying microbiology and learning about communicable diseases.
You’ll begin to specialize and go deeper into public health topics, as well as complete a dissertation. You’ll look at substance use and nutrition, aging and life cycles. From a policy point of view, you’ll learn about environmental management, community engagement practices and contemporary global public health issues. Finally, you’ll extend your knowledge of public health informatics and the monitoring and evaluation of health programs.
A mandatory English Language Test by Bath Spa University UK conducted in the Bath Spa University Academic Center RAK Campus; or IELTS (Academic) test results with an overall score of 6.0, minimum score of 5.5 for each skill/band.
