Course Overview

Our course incorporates service user participation and simulation in our purpose-built, state-of-the-art facilities in all three years of study. This will encourage you to practically apply your knowledge, develop your communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to effectively deliver patient-centered care. Our fast-paced course will ensure you develop your academic and professional skills throughout, and our committed and experienced tutors are on hand to support your progress every step of the way.

We actively encourage our students to explore all career options and to pursue the career that is right for them. We host careers events for our students to provide insight and awareness into different dietetic careers and provide support with job application writing and interviews. This helps 100% of our UK full-time first-degree leavers to go on to work and or study within 15 months after completing the course

We are here to help you plan your future, make the most of your time at University, and to enhance your employability. We provide access to part-time jobs, and extra-curricular employability-enhancing workshops and offer practical one-to-one help with career planning, including help with CVs, applications, and mock interviews. We also deliver group sessions on career planning within each course and we have a wide range of extensive information covering graduate jobs and postgraduate study.

Students and graduates of the University of Chester can use our services free of charge for up to two years after graduating.

UCAS points

GCE A Level :

120 UCAS points from GCE A Levels or equivalent. Typical offer - BBC/BBB. The department requires Biology as essential to entry, plus one other science which should include Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Physics, but may include Geography/Environmental Science, Sociology, Psychology, or Sports Science/Physical Education

BTEC :

BTEC Diploma at Merit/ Distinction, if with an A level in Biology/Chemistry at B or equivalent to necessary points.

BTEC Extended Diploma, on its own at Merit/ Distinction if contains sufficient science, specifically Biology.

T Level :

T Level (Science) with a Merit grade

Irish/Scottish Highers:

Irish Highers - H3, H3, H3, H3, H4 including H3 in Biology and Chemistry

Scottish Highers - BBBB including Biology and Chemistry

International Baccalaureate:

28 points, including 5 in Biology and Chemistry

Access requirements

Access to HE Diploma (Science) must include 15 level 3 credits in Biology at Distinction and 12 level 3 credits in Chemistry at Merit

OCR:

OCR National Diploma merit profile with A Level Biology or equivalent.

Extra Information / General Entry Requirements:

Please note that we accept a maximum of 8 UCAS points from GCE AS Levels and that the Welsh Baccalaureate (core) will be recognized in our offer. Applicants should have a minimum of GCSEs grade C/4 (or above) in English Language and Mathematics.

Candidates must also:

Ideally, visit a dietetic department, obtain similar relevant work shadowing experience, or attend dietetic awareness events prior to submitting an application

Satisfy NHS occupational health and ‘fitness for practice requirements

Agree to an enhanced DBS criminal record check

Satisfy requirements for UK residency

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.
