Course Overview

The one‑year Chinese language program at Hangzhou Dianzi University supports learners from different starting levels, from beginner to advanced. Students improve listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through regular classroom instruction and language practice. The program includes optional culture activities that help link language study with everyday life in China. Partial scholarships may reduce cost for qualified learners, and completion often prepares students for the HSK exam, which is commonly required for academic study or employment where Mandarin is needed. International classmates from multiple countries give a multicultural environment that supports peer interaction and shared learning. Many students who complete this program transition to degree studies in Chinese universities or use improved Mandarin skills in fields like business, education, and service industries where language ability is useful. General Eligibility

• Must be a non‑Chinese citizen holding a valid passport.
• Completed high school or equivalent certificate; age typically 17–25 years for language learners.
• Applicants must provide passport copy, photo, educational certificates, and health documents during application.
• Scholarships such as university, provincial, or Chinese Government Scholarships may be available; eligibility depends on academic performance and HSK level when applicable.

Part Time Work Details

International students with valid X‑visa may work on‑campus up to 20 hrs/week; off‑campus work requires local and university permission with restrictions.

Language Requirement

• This program is taught in Mandarin and does not require a specific English test score for admission. However, for support with everyday communication or if applying via agencies, students may submit:

  • IELTS: 5.0–5.5 (guideline for administrative purposes)

  • TOEFL iBT: 60–80

  • PTE Academic: 45–55

  • Duolingo English Test: 85–95

  These scores are recommended but are not central admission requirements for a Chinese non‑degree language program.
