Course Overview

You’ll gain a deep insight into early childhood. You'll investigate and examine:

  • Theoretical perspectives of early childhood, including sociocultural and posthuman approaches

  • The importance of play in practice and theory

  • Ethical and political dimensions of early childhood education

  • The development of early language and literacy

  • International perspectives and approaches

  • Outdoor pedagogy, including education for sustainable development in early childhood settings

  • Children’s engagement with nature and materials in forest and outdoor experiences.

General Eligibility

Recognised Bachelor's degree or higher and evidence of two years of work experience; or successful completion of equivalent courses; or satisfactory preparation for the course through informal or non-formal learning and/or professional experiences subject to the approval of the Academic Chair

Part Time Work Details

20 Hours of Work permit weekly for international students.

Language Requirement

  • A mandatory English Language Test by Bath Spa University UK conducted in the Bath Spa University Academic Center RAK Campus; or IELTS (Academic) test results with an overall score of 6.0, minimum score of 5.5 for each skill/band.
