Intended Learning Outcomes By the end of the DET qualification, students must be able to:
Define and analyze the different concepts of equality diversity and inclusion;
Implement the policies and strategies to ensure that the legislations and other regulatory frameworks relating to teaching and learning are being adhered to;
Plan and inclusively deliver their subject area;
Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to implement the different ways to assess learners at the different stages of their learning journey;
Analyze the importance of continuous personal and professional development in the teaching profession;
Demonstrate the ability to evaluate own practice in the different aspects of being a teaching professional such as planning, delivering, assessing, dealing with students’ issues, managing the behavior of students, and participating in the upholding of the organizational values and culture;
Implement the different theories, models, and principles of reflective practice, teaching and learning, communication, assessment, and curriculum development;
Demonstrate the ability to reflect on their own wider skills and those of their learners and their impact on their motivation, confidence, and achievement;
Develop, use, and organize resources for teaching and learning in an inclusive manner and in line with the related legislation;
Evaluate the impact of the macro environment on the educational system, organizational policies, and consequently own practice;
Demonstrate the ability to plan, deliver, and assess learners of the age group of 14-19;
Evaluate own practice in terms of planning, delivering, and assessing learners of the age group of 14-19.
Be 19 years old as a minimum
A degree or a relevant vocational and/or academic qualification
A keen interest in teaching and learning
A current enhanced DBS Check/Certificate – should not have a criminal background which might prevent them from working as a teacher with young people or vulnerable adults;
Mature learners may present a more varied profile of achievement that is likely to include extensive work experience (paid and/or unpaid) and/or achievement of a range of professional qualifications in their work sector;
Candidates should be qualified/ experienced in the subject they intend to teach, have access to 100 teaching practice hours, and possess reasonable levels of language, literacy, and numeracy.

Students are expected to be able to demonstrate English language comprehension at a level equivalent to IELTS (International English Language Testing System) 5.5 to be able to study Level 5 DET
The expectation of IELTS 5.5 (Reading and Writing must be at 5.5) applies to all students recruited to DET level 5 qualification. All students seeking admission to CECOS (including EU and Overseas) are asked to provide/undertake one of the following:
Evidence that their command of spoken and written English is at IELTS 5.5 (or equivalent) adequate for the program of study for which they have applied. The expectation can also be met using other English language tests such as Pearson PTE, NCFE, City & Guilds, Cambridge ESOL, etc.
