Course Overview

Covering the latest practices and theories of engineering, our BEng (Hons)  in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Foundation Year offers essential knowledge and skills for entry into this global profession.

The initial year of BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Foundation Year offers an excellent grounding in the fundamentals of engineering, electronics, and mathematics. It’s designed to prepare you for degree-level study. During this first year, you’ll explore introductory concepts that encompass various engineering subjects, including mechanics, mathematics, and electrical/electronic engineering. These will prepare you for the ever-increasing cross-disciplinary nature of engineering.

The rapid growth of the technology sector has seen an increased demand for creative, skilled engineers both nationally and internationally. Many global electronics organizations maintain research and development facilities within the UK and Europe. Engineers based in the UK can also be posted overseas to work on projects.

This 4-year degree program is delivered in partnership with the University of Bolton and will give you the engineering-related knowledge and practical skills needed for a professional career in engineering.

Alongside developing your skillset, we will help you build lifelong learning skills so that you can reflect on, articulate, and transfer them to everyday life to maximize your success. You will also be able to choose from several optional modules in your final year, which include renewable energies and advanced embedded systems, amongst others.

This program is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on behalf of the Engineering Council.

Career progression

In addition to technical knowledge, this degree offers you the opportunity to develop a range of key employability skills that are highly transferrable to a wide range of areas beyond engineering, such as IT, finance, and management.

Another possible course of action for graduates is to pursue further study in a specialist field of research. Courses include an MSc or Ph.D. in areas such as internet engineering, nanotechnology, wireless and optical communications, and telecommunications
