BSc (Hons) Physical Education

This course has been designed by former PE teachers to reflect the knowledge and experience required by students who are aiming to move into the profession. All modules are delivered by experienced PE staff with strong academic profiles, who are aware of the knowledge and skills required to be a successful PE teacher. All three levels of study involve teaching experience across a range of age ranges and in a variety of activities.

The University of Chester offers both the PGCE and Schools Direct route into initial teacher training (ITT) so there is a clear transition available. Staff will provide all students with the relevant guidance in order to complete their application through UCAS and a range of support with the interview process.

We are here to help you plan your future, make the most of your time at University, and to enhance your employability. We provide access to part-time jobs, and extra-curricular employability-enhancing workshops and offer practical one-to-one help with career planning, including help with CVs, applications, and mock interviews. We also deliver group sessions on career planning within each course and we have a wide range of extensive information covering graduate jobs and postgraduate study.

Students and graduates of the University of Chester can use our services free of charge for up to two years after graduating.

120 UCAS points from GCE A Levels or equivalent. Typical offer - BBC/BBB. GCSE English Language and Maths at grade C or above are also required.

Irish/Scottish Highers:

Irish Highers - H3, H3, H3, H3, H3 including PE, Biology or a Science related subject

Scottish Highers - BBBB including PE, Biology, or a Science related subject

International Baccalaureate:

28 points, including 5 in HL Biology

Access requirements:

Access to HE Diploma (Sports Science or Science) to include 45 credits at level 3, 30 of which must be at Merit

Extra Information / General Entry Requirements:

Please note that we accept a maximum of 8 UCAS points from GCE AS Levels and that the Welsh Baccalaureate (core) and A Level General Studies will be recognized in our offer. We will also consider a combination of A Levels and BTECs/OCRs. GCSE English Language and Maths at grade C or above are also required. Applications from applicants with an HND are welcome and will be considered for Level 5 or Year 2 entry.
