Digital skills are vital for the economy and there is a natural synergy between Creative Writing and Media & Culture, particularly in relation to developments in digital media that have occurred over the past few years. In studying this Joint Honours combination, you will build transferrable skills that include learning to write blog portfolios, creating Me-Vies, writing scripts for podcasts or radio, and using social media for marketing. It is estimated that over a million digitally skilled people will be needed according to the Office for Students and this course has been created to position you at the forefront of creative content development.
The course provides continuous opportunities to develop employability and includes work experience options. There is a range of opportunities to study abroad for one semester in the second semester of the second year. Many graduates of this course go on to careers in social media marketing, and digital marketing and go on to further studies.
From the latest data available, 88% of Creative Writing students were employed or in further study, and 89% of Media & Culture students were employed or in further study, 18 months after graduation.
