Course Overview
You complete 28 weeks of practice placement within traditional and non-traditional settings across the North East of England. All practice-based learning opportunities are mapped to the British Dietetic Association competency framework and recognise the importance of the four pillars of practice (clinical, leadership and management, education and research). You are allocated a practice educator who, along with dietitians, provides opportunities to develop your ability to assess and treat individuals, groups and populations in the practice setting. You also work alongside multidisciplinary team members, developing an understanding of each role. We cannot guarantee that practice placements are local to you. You are expected to travel and pay for associated travel costs.
Dietitians work in diverse settings– the NHS, private practice, public health, industry, sport, media, research and education.
Practice-based learning opportunities at Teesside enable learners to become confident, flexible healthcare professionals equipped for today’s health and care workplaces.
