This course provides a comprehensive understanding of British Sign Language (BSL), Deaf studies, and linguistics. You will learn how to communicate with Deaf people using BSL, understand the cultural and social aspects of Deafness, and develop an appreciation of the linguistic properties of BSL. The course is designed for those interested in pursuing a career in teaching, interpreting, or working with Deaf individuals.

Students on this course will have access to state-of-the-art facilities, including a sign language resource room and opportunities to engage in practical placements. The course is also designed to meet the requirements of the National Registers of Interpreters and Translators (NRIT).

If you have studied BSL previously you can still join this course, but the British Sign Language modules may contain some element of revision for you.

General Eligibility

104 UCAS Tariff points 3 GCSEs at grade C/4 (or equivalent) including the English Language.

Part Time Work Details

20 Hours of Work permit weekly for international students.
