Course Overview

This course is aimed at qualified counselors wishing to continue their professional development and those needing a stepping stone to study a master's award in this area. You will explore the philosophies, values, and cultural assumptions underpinning key counseling perspectives. You will work in groups to review your counseling experiences and you will share ideas and thoughts on different approaches in order to improve your practice. The final project module will help boost your expertise and help you should you need to design and present your own counseling report or study in the future.

General Eligibility

Applicants should normally have a Diploma of Higher Education in Counselling, HND, Foundation Degree, or equivalent award of 120 level 5 credit points in a cognate subject. Applicants should have formal training in counseling and/or psychotherapy, with a minimum of 100 supervised client hours and membership of BACP or equivalent professional association with code of ethics. Applicants who have completed a Level 4 Therapeutic Counselling Diploma may be considered through recognition of prior learning and will be required to submit additional documentary evidence including two references and a written case study.
